Nowadays, in school, mathematics is necessary, for several good reasons. The problem is that only a tiny portion of students are interested. Result: grades are low, so teachers lower the difficulty level, since they think it’s too difficult, which only makes the course less interesting and less liked. The real problem isn’t the difficulty, it’s the students’ mindset when entering the course. How many times do you hear a student brag that they’re the worst in their class in math, that they’re not made for it, that they’ll never understand. The problem is that it shouldn’t be pride they’re showing, but a cry for help. The majority of students are now convinced they’re incapable of doing math, when they simply gave up long ago, when they heard another student brag about their false inability to reason.

In mathematics, regression is generating a curve function that comes as close as possible to data that doesn’t follow a perfect curve. Thus, all so-called “outlier” data is eliminated, because it’s too far from the beautiful curve drawn. Even if this data is good, it’s eliminated. The same principle is currently being applied to humanity: we equalize downward, because it’s easier to dumb down than to make smarter. Because otherwise, when you stand out from the crowd, you break the regularity of the system, which therefore cannot evolve or improve.
